Immunology Project Discussion Questions

Immunology Project Discussion Questions

Learning Goal: I’m working on a immunology project and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Hello, This is a paper i will need to get it on thursday.

Choose a microorganism that interacts with another organism – animal, plant, prokaryote, fungus, etc. It is imperative that there is enough information available on the chosen microorganism. The micro bacteria that I chose is the Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis called Naegleria fowleri which is parasitic to the brain. It is known for brain-eating amoeba. For the morphological and physiological/biochemical characteristics is about the cells of the central nervous system, that is where the amoeba has its detrimental interaction. And in taxonomy you need to put the first organism which is Naegleria Fowleri and then because it affects humans, you will need to find the taxonomy of Homo Sapiens on the website attached.

The complete paper should be no less than 5 pages and nolonger than 7 pages. The paper should be double spaced, size 12pt font, with the following sections:

Introduction: Background on the microorganism of choice and the interacting organism

Include the current name (and any past names) of the microorganism and the interacting organism.
Taxonomic classification, where available, [Domain/ Kingdom / Phylum (or Division)/ Class / Order/ Family/ Genus/ Species] of both organisms (the microbe and the interacting organism, which if you chose a disease is the organism that is diseased). The NCBI Taxonomy database is an excellent source for organismal taxonomy.
Morphological or physiological/biochemical characteristics of both the microorganism and the interacting organism.
Describe the microorganism and what makes it distinct from all other microorganisms.
Describe the morphological and/or physiological characteristics of the interacting organism. If the interacting organism is a part of the human body, describe those cells/tissues, there will be some characteristic/cell structure that the microorganism adheres to or is capable of interacting with in/on those cells.
Body: Describe the microbial interaction –

Describe the interaction between the two organisms
Where, how, when?
Why does this interaction occur? Some interactions are in response to environmental conditions, needs of the organisms, or they are obligate – the microbe must alwaysinteract with the organism. How do these organisms get in contact with each other? What happens when they do?
What type of relationship is this – symbiotic or non-symbiotic? Is it parasitic or synergistic etc.?
What is the result of this interaction? Is it beneficial or detrimental to the host?
What are the latest research-based discoveries on this microbial interaction?
Future research – Discuss any questions that remain about this microbial interaction.

What is the direction of any future research? Based on what you have learned, what direction would you recommend for any future research?
Summary – what have you learned in your review of the literature? What conclusions can you draw? Be brief, and summarize your major points.

Works cited/ Bibliography – Using the Council of Science Editors (CSE) format include parenthetical citations throughout the text, and list your sources at the end of the paper using end-source citations. A minimum of 6 sources are requiredand should include primary literature (original research articles or review articles), scholarly textbooks (check out the Microbiology textbook for ideas), or other scholarly materials; websites are not allowed. I have attached the rubric for the paper.
