The United States of America is recognized worldwide for its development in the health sector. The government has intensively invested in this field to ensure that the citizens conveniently access health facilities any time they require them. John Hopkins is a Hospital, a located in Baltimore where Martin Jefferson works.
As a medical practitioner, Martin Jefferson is supposed to perform the following roles; conducting medical-related interviews with the new patients, diagnosing and treating basic health conditions, regular basic health examinations, diagnosing any serious signs and symptoms and referring them to specialists, and allocation of duties and responsibilities to nurses or other healthcare assistants. Martin Jefferson grew up in a low-wage family. He could see the struggles that the parents could go through to put a meal on the table and support his education. Martin had one sibling, and as the firstborn, Martin had to ensure that he succeeds in his academics to help the younger sister, who was very bright. He was self-motivated towards success. Martin Jefferson’s career in nursing was motivated by the way his mother kept on ailing. The mother was growing weak with age. Martin felt that he required to specialize in a course that would enable him to take care of her mum’s health conveniently. He also thought that he needed to change the medical field by getting a sense of curtesy when addressing patients. Martin used to see nurses and doctors being very rough and unkind to patients at his tender age. The medical practitioners’ cold treatment added salt to the injury when he took the mother to the hospital.
The hospital received credits for twenty-one years (1991 – 2011) for its quality service delivery. The hospital is located in Baltimore. John Hopkins is the teaching hospital and a biomedical research facility that was founded in 1889. It was established from a bequest, which was over $7 million. Martin Jefferson being a general care physician, interacts with all types of patients. He encounters patients with acute problems as well as those with mild health issues. Most of the patients that he contends are those that have medical insurance covers. Just a small portion of his clientele does not have insurance covers. Women form a large percentage of the patients he comes across, with most of the cases being mild ones.
Just like any other professional, Martin encounters several challenges which at times, are beyond his capability. In most instances, he is supposed to work for long hours (at times more than 10 hours) in a day. The long working hours cause fatigue, and he is sometimes unable to service the best way. Besides, he encounters patients with no medical coverage and has no finances to cater to medical services. He is, at times, forced to fund patients’ benefits.
Working in the United States health care system is the best thing, according to Martin Jefferson. The healthcare system in the United States is well developed, and all the variables required for service delivery are always available. However, Martin feels that the poor need the government’s intervention. The government should devise a system on how they can have free medical cover. The deducted amount of money on those that have insurance cover should be reduced, according to Martin.

On the onslaught of covid-19, Martin was in great fear that he might succumb to service delivery. He, at some point, contemplated quitting the job. Through the additional training that the medical practitioners underwent, Martin gained more expertise on how to deal with emergency and outbreaks. Martin being in the field for 15 years, said that this is the best thing ever, and anyone who wants to undertake the profession should not look back. Martin pointed out that being a medical practitioner, however, comes with a great sense of responsibility. Any prospect should brace up for the task.
Martin also pointed out that he would have revised the working hours for all the medical practitioners if he got a chance to change some things. He would have reduced the hours to a maximum of eight hours a day. Reducing the number of hours would reduce fatigue in medical practitioners and hence, quality service delivery.
