Back in 2009, two Domino’s pizza employees decided to post a prank video to YouTube that caused a major reputation crisis for Domino’s pizza. Dominos pizza learned the hard way how fast news travels through social media and how damaging that was to their reputation. This is a famous case on how a business was unprepared to quickly respond and repair that damage before it spread like wildfire. As you can see, we have come a long way since 2009, but there is still opportunity for a business to enjoy brand awareness as well as to suffer damage from social media. Social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, have forever changed the way people communicate and how companies conduct business. Social Media enables two-way communication. Therefore, Social Media has made brand reputation more important than ever.
